CommunityWorks - Spartanburg Back The Burg Program

The Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with CommunityWorks has established the Bringing Back the Burg Small Business Fund to help businesses impacted by COVID-19.  This loan is designed to financially assist qualifying small businesses in the city and the county through low interest and forgivable loans.  Businesses that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 and meet the criteria could be eligible for up to $10,000 with the possibility of 50% of the loan forgiven after the first year.

Eligible Businesses

  • Owner or Business is Income-qualified
  • Employ five Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) employees or less
  • Have a business located within the city limits of Spartanburg
  • Have a current City of Spartanburg Business License
  • Provide documentation that shows the business has been operational prior to March of 2020
  • Have a household income at or below 80% Area Median Income based on household size (see chart)
  • Provide proof of economic hardship due to COVID-19
  • Not have engaged in any illegal activity per local, state or federal regulations, with federal regulations taking precedence over local or state regulations

At any time during the review and underwriting process, we may request additional information and/or documentation. Applications will not be considered complete until all documents are gathered.

  • Have a household income at or below 80% Area Median Income based on household size (see chart)
